Proverbs 16:9
"A man's heart deviseth his way:
but the LORD directeth his steps."

    Have you ever wondered where planes are headed when they fly overhead? I do sometimes, and just like for pretty much everything else, there is an app for that. The app allows someone to see where planes are coming from, where they are going, and the route they plan to take to reach their destination. The interesting thing is that everyone on a flight has no say in how they will get to their destination. Sure, they can pick a plane ticket that goes a particular route, but the actual course is not up to them. The pilot acts on their experience, without asking the passengers for permission or counsel. 
    The same can be said of our lives; we each have a starting point, our day of birth. We all will reach our destination, physical death, unless Christ returns before that time. But even so, we all will spend eternity in one of two places: Heaven or Hell.
We are all on different paths and live in different places, but as our Scripture points out, we may try to plan our path, but in reality, God ultimately directs our steps. Just as those passengers have no say in how and where the pilot will fly the plane, we truly have no say in how our lives will play out. God is in total control, and the sooner we realize that, embrace and surrender to that reality, the better. Embracing this leads to a freer and more purposeful life. It should excite us to know that if we trust and follow God, He will establish our ways! Besides, He has had them laid for a long time anyways.
