Shining Bright

"There are rare Christians whose very presence incites others to be better Christians, I want to be that rare Christian." A.W. Tozer

This should be the desire of every born-again follower of Christ: to live such a life that their very presence excites others to live and pursue Christ in their own lives. Not because of who they are, but because of the One who lives within them, Christ. Jesus speaks on this in Matthew 5:14-16. "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
It is a sobering thought to realize we are the light of the world, again, not us but Christ living in us. But here's the question: How bright is our light shining? Are there things in our lives that dim our light? Can others truly see and sense Christ in our daily lives? We are called to shine brightly, but are we hiding that light under that basket instead? We probably would say no, I'm not purposefully hiding my light. However, if we let sin hang around or don't do the things we are suppossed to do we are dimming our light, therefore lowering the effectiveness our light to those around us.
May the words of Tozer and more importantly those of Christ, motivate us to shine bright for Christ and to remove anything that would hinder that light!
